The Security & Crisis Management Research & Development Associate will contribute primarily to two aspects of the team’s work: First, with data analytics and research; and second to the transition to a new security management information platform.

The data analytics and research activities include working in a team on the compilation, preparation, validation and visualisation of ICRC’s weekly, quarterly and annual security & safety incident and minimum security requirements data. The Associate also provides ad hoc research and reports of incident data as required by SCMS colleagues, and contributes to future strategic development of the SCMS’s security data platform.

Secondly, the Associate will support the human and technical change management processes involved in the transition to a new security management information platform. This includes contributing to the planning, coordination and accompaniment of changes at different levels as colleagues around the world appropriate the tool. 

• Support the change management planning, coordination and accompaniment of new project tools adoption across the global organization as colleagues around the world appropriate the tool.
• Generate narrative analyses of data, including assessments of trends, ‘highlights’, areas of concern and significant development.
• Share the various levels of analysis and assessment with SCMS colleagues and others in the Regions and at Op_Dir to help clarify and interpret the data and identify action points.
• Ensure that dashboards are user-friendly and illustrates all relevant information in a coherent and interactive manner
• Help accompany the data migration process, as part of a technical team, ensuring that the data quality and coherence is guaranteed in the migration process.
• Liaise closely with SCMS counterparts, and with other relevant departments to ensure the successful use of the new system.
• Explore opportunities to research and develop the wider value of security data with regards to the work of other security organisations.

• A recent graduate with a bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in the social and/or technical sciences.
• Relevant work experience (including internships, volunteer work) but no more than 2 years of internship experience or 1 year of working experience after the last graduation (applicants with more than this will automatically be excluded from consideration).
• Insight into the ICRC and its mandate, and an understanding of the wider Red Cross Red Crescent Movement.
• Demonstrated interest in the field of security & risk management, crisis management and response.
• Experience in data analysis and advanced use of MS Excel. Familiarity with business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI, Qlik) is a plus.
• Working proficiency in French an asset, including additional command of any of the following languages: Arabic, Russian or Spanish.
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills. 
• Ability to support decision making and business processes with creativity and rigor.
• Flexible, adaptable and quick to master new tools and concepts.
• Capable of working independently and taking initiative. 
• Excellent teamworker.
• Humanitarian sector, Red Cross Red Crescent Movement experience a plus.
• Project management and change management experience.
