The purpose of this internship is to support activities in the area of research and applications with particle accelerators by contributing to the organization of the technical meetings, workshops and other technical events, as well as assisting in preparation of relevant proceedings-publications and in development of outreach materials and web portals.
Functions / Key Results Expected
- Develop a project webpage of the IAEA F11024 CRP on the IAEA Accelerator Knowledge Portal;
- Conduct simulations to estimate radiation effects in case of cell irradiation and bioimaging using MeV ion beams;
- Prepare an overview on the quantification and imaging capabilities of the IAEA F11024 CRP project partners for reliable intercomparison of their data;
- Assist the F11024 CRP on collecting irradiation and imaging data to develop sample and irradiation guidelines;
- Assist in the preparation of scientific meetings in the area of research and applications with particle accelerators;
- Assist in the preparation of Technical Documents related to applications of accelerators.
Requisiti principali:
Qualifications and Experience
- University degree in Nuclear Physics, Bio-medical Engineering, Accelerator Physics, or in related fields
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Skills in creating, managing and developing small projects;
- Basic knowledge of techniques and applications of nuclear physics in accelerator science, preferably with relevance to bio-medical applications;
- Ability to comprehend technical content and develop a technical document;
- IT skills in HTML or SharePoint or Tableau is an asset;
- Demonstrated interest in research based on particle accelerators;
- Experience in organizing scientific events.
Applicant Eligibility
- Candidates must be a minimum of 20 years of age and have completed at least three years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a first degree.
- Candidates may apply up to one year after the completion of a bachelor's, master's or doctorate degree.
- Candidates must not have previously participated in the IAEA's internship programme.
- Good written and spoken English essential; fluency in any other IAEA official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish or Russian) an asset.
- Candidates must attach two signed letters of recommendation to their application.
