Under the supervision of the Chief of the Human Resources Section, Associate Human Resources Officer or a staff member in the section to which they are assigned. 

• The intern will manage the Internship Programme, which includes acting as focal point for all internal and external enquiries regarding internships;
• drafting correspondence and handling telephone enquiries;
• preparing internship offer letters and following up on documentation;
• informing departments of the status of applications; providing induction briefing to new interns;
• processing check-outs and updating databases.

The incumbent will ensure a smooth working relationship with potential candidates, other interns and staff members within the Mechanism.  Additionally, the Internship Coordinator will assist the Human Resources Section with ad-hoc duties when necessary.

• Applicants to the programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:
  • (a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent)  
  • (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree (Master Degree) or equivalent, or higher).
• Previous experience in Human Resources management or Administration is desirable.
• Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying is required.
• Applicants must have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS Excel and MS Power Point.
• English and French are the working languages of the Mechanism. Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN Official language is desirable.
