Attività:

 

Economic and/or sector analysis:

  • Assist in collecting, evaluating, interpreting, analysing specified statistics and qualitative socio-economic information obtained from a variety of sources and pertaining to particular sectors, countries, regions or development topics.
  • Assist in preparing briefing notes, inputs to speeches and presentations and similar material on economic or sector issues for the use of the Director, for the Office of UNCTAD’s Secretary General, and other relevant stakeholders, in a form that is adapted to the audience.

Intergovernmental support:

  • Assist in preparing inputs for reports to intergovernmental bodies.
  • Follows intergovernmental meetings and prepares summary reports and similar material.
  • Assist in preparing inputs to statements by members of Office of the Director and UNCTAD Secretariat staff to such meetings.
  • Assists in the organization and servicing of expert group meetings, seminars, panels, etc., on trade and development issues, including for inter-governmental processes.

General:

  • Assist in performing other related duties as required, including a variety of administrative tasks necessary for the final delivery of the work unit’s services;
  • Assist in supporting the Office’s clearance process of input requests, communications and research material by the division
  • Assist in supporting the division’s programme reporting efforts, including for results based management (RBM) and the strategic management application (SMA), in coordination with divisional focal points.
  • Assist in supporting the director’s communication by preparing communication material, including for social media and other digital means, in close cooperation with the divisional focal point for communication.
Requisiti principali:
  • Applicants to the programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:
    • (a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or,
    • (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).
  • Applicants must preferably pursue studies environmental studies, economics, international trade, sustainability, in data and computer sciences, economics, or trade-related fields. No working experience is required for this internship.
  • Knowledge of trade and the multilateral trading system is an asset. However, for this position the University degree must be in the area of economics, development, law, political science or other social sciences deemed appropriate.
  • Should be computer literate in standard software applications;
  • Fluency oral and written in English is required for the internship. Knowledge of another UN language is desirable.
