Under the guidance of the project manager of the food as nature-based solutions in cities component of the United Nations Development Account project (UNDA-14) “Water-Energy nexus support to post-COVID-19 recovery in Eastern Europe, Western Balkans, Central Asia, the Middle East and Africa” and the staff of the UNECE Forest and Bioeconomy Section, the intern will contribute to the following activities under the project:

  • Organization and management assistance to the final workshop under the project;
  • Coordination assistance to the development of a technical training guide on nature-based solutions in cities;
  • Communication and dissemination work including social media feeds and reels on the project’s outcomes and impact, news stories, web site articles, presentations, as appropriate;
  • Assistance to building links and explore options for work beyond the project’s life cycle on the project’s themes of nature-based solutions in cities, forests and food; nexus links and related environmental topics;
  • Research;
  • Assistance with the publication production of the technical guide.
  • Performs other related duties as required compatible with tasks outlined above.
  • Work implies frequent interaction with the following: Staff within work unit/section and peers in department/regional commission; staff of other international organizations working on related issues; academics and representatives of civil society, both NGOs and the business community.
Requisiti principali:
  • Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
    • (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
    • (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
  • Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work. experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.
  • English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of Russian or French is desirable.
