Silicones are well-known efficient foam control agents used in various industries (detergency, pulp & paper). To continuously improve the performance of these foam control agents, some additives are being developed. This internship will focus on the characterization of the behavior of these specific additives in function of parameters such as temperature, pH in a given foaming media. The characterization will include interfacial measurements and observations techniques, together with some performance measurement. Relationship between characterization results and performance data will need to be established, and guidelines to achieve optimum performance proposed.
The intern will spend most of his/her time in the laboratory experimenting formulations and application testing, optimising characterization techniques, relate the project with literature searches to validate technical hypothesis, . He/she will review his/her results with the antifoam team regularly and present his/her global findings to a larger audience at the end of the internship.
You are currently studying for a Master's Degree or equivalent. You have a good working knowledge of English. You have experience in working in a lab and have an interest in formulation. Safety is our top priority, other desired attributes are critical thinking, troubleshooting and organization. An individual contributor that is also a good team player is required. The candidate should demonstrate a passion for chemistry and applying innovative ideas.
