You’ll be providing input into component design during the concept phase to ensure that our ambitious weight targets are feasible, and holding reviews with Design Engineers throughout the design process to keep those targets on track. Weight is one of the key attributes for our vehicles and it’s partly what sets us apart from the competition, so the work you’ll be doing is critical.
As well as working on the concept design stage, you’ll be producing metrics and collating data to support the various programme gateways. Keeping continuous improvement and learning from experience in mind, you’ll be investigating new technologies and developing tools and solutions that will help reduce vehicle weight.
We’re looking for you to be either currently studying or have finished a degree in a relevant engineering discipline, such as Automotive Engineer or Aerospace Engineering. This position would suit someone who is looking for an internship during their degree studies. In terms of practical experience and knowledge, we need you to have an understanding of solid modelling and surfacing using 3D CAD – we use CATIA v5 but if you’ve used something similar like AutoCAD or Solidworks, we can get you up to speed with CATIA. You’ll also need to be able to analyse data using automations, scripting, or macros.
