Road traffic accidents account for approximately 1.3 million fatalities worldwide. In order to design next generation of ADAS it is essential to quantify accidents types which are avoided or mitigated to highlight the remaining type of accidents that should be addressed by next system. The purpose of this study is to estimate which accidents can be avoided with industry state of the art Active Safety systems and which scenario remain. Using existing accident scenario and Safety Critical Event database, you will develop strategies to simulate safety effectiveness of existing Active Safety systems. In a second step you will validate the accuracy of these simulation results using existing test data. Finally you will propose Safety benefit assessment method for Active Safety systems.
Expected workload share:
• Scenario definition: 20%
• Simulation & validation: 70%
• Documentation: 10%
