Attività:
The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of Scientific Affairs Officer, United Nations Platform for Space-based Information for Disaster Management and Emergency Response ,UN-SPIDER Vienna. Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual’s background; the intern’s assigned office as well as the internship period. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Provide support to the team in organising the UN-SPIDER Conferences.
- Assist in making arrangements for the short training programme which will be held back to back with the UN-SPIDER Annual Conference
- Specific duties include download registration form, sort out registration list, prepare invitation letter, communicate with the participants on logistic and other issues and assist in facilitating visa application.
- Provide assistance in formatting the documents such as information note, agenda, background board, brochure, badges etc.
- GIS/Remote sensing research.
- Perform other tasks as necessary.
Requisiti principali: - The basic education required is HS Diploma. Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
- (a) be enrolled in, or have recently completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
- (b) be enrolled in, or have recently completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
- Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work.experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.
- GIS/Remote sensing experience;
- Be computer literate in standard software applications;
- Proficiency in preparing spreadsheets;
- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
