Internship Objectives:

  • Continue previous work on the study of creep in reformer tubes.
  • Develop a thermo-mechanical model for the SMR tube (reactor)/baffle assembly.

Intern's Missions:

  • Analyze the scientific literature on the thermo-mechanical modeling of SMR tube/baffle assemblies and on the creep modeling of reformer tubes.
  • Define and implement the most relevant modeling strategy to capture the system's behavior (including differential thermal expansion of reactors and baffles, contact forces, friction).
  • Identify the model parameters from experimental data or literature.
  • Compare the model predictions with field observations or pilot test results.
Requisiti principali:
  • Final-year engineering student or Master 2 student (Bac+5 - 5 years of post-secondary education).
  • Specialization: Mechanical Engineering, Continuum Mechanics, Numerical Modeling, or Physics, Mechanical Metallurgy.
  • Essential skill: Solid knowledge in solid mechanics, fracture mechanics, mechanical metallurgy.
  • Highly appreciated skill: A first experience or strong interest in continuum mechanics modeling.
  • Tools: A first experience with simulation software.
  • Qualities: Scientific rigor, autonomy, technical curiosity, and good analysis and synthesis skills.
