- Supporting in non-project related activities that make the team high performing.
The main purpose of the internship is to support analytical data‑driven studies related to wetland hydrology and surface water–groundwater interactions through the application of isotope techniques, geospatial analysis, and environmental datasets. The internship will combine practical training in isotope data processing, geo-spatial analysis, and introductory programming skills relevant to hydrological investigations
Functions / Key Results Expected
Under the supervision of the Section Head and senior Isotope Hydrologists, the Intern will contribute to ongoing wetland‑focused hydrological studies by supporting data analysis, including:
- Assist in the compilation, organisation, and quality control of a global database of water isotopes in wetlands.
- Assist with spatial analysis tasks, including groundwater contour mapping, IDW/kriging interpolation, and river and lake catchment delineation using Digital Elevation Models (DEM) in QGIS.
- Support data processing and basic scripting tasks (Python, R, C++) related to the analysis of hydrological, isotope, and environmental datasets.
- Assist with sampling networks logistics, documentation, and data management related to isotope measurements and wetland‑focused research projects.
Reporting to the Compliance Requirements Network Manager, the intern will be supporting the team by implementing a range of activities geared towards the continuous improvement of the sourcing operation for IATA solutions like TACT & Timatic.
- Provide support for the implementation of a strategy designed to improve in quality and depth of sourcing information.
- Perform research activities to identify optimal sources of information.
- Assist in the expansion and strengthening of the existing network by fostering effective partnerships with internal stakeholders (IATA offices) and external partners (airlines, airports, and government authorities).
- Promote these IATA solutions among airport and government regulators helping ensure industry compliance and mitigating the risk of fines for airlines.
- Maintain the CRN contact database by following established procedures to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Beyond the day-to-day responsibilities, the selected candidate will be expected to complete the following internship assignment: How Can AI Help Keep Airline Regulations Up to Date?
This project will explore how artificial intelligence can be leveraged to streamline the monitoring, interpretation, and distribution of regulatory updates across the aviation industry. The goal is to identify innovative AI-driven approaches that enhance accuracy, speed, and scalability in managing complex and dynamic passenger and cargo regulations.
- Support the automation and optimization of software development workflows.
- Assist in the setup and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines to enhance reliability and scalability.
- Contribute to cloud integration, containerization, and deployment processes.
- Help develop and maintain software build infrastructure.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to configure operating systems and streamline processes.
- Participate in source control management and versioning workflows.
