- Conduct desk-based research and analysis of topical and emerging themes relevant to to the competitiveness of Iraq’s export sector.
- Contribute to the initial diagnostic of Iraq’s trade and investment sector, including the identification of priority sectors and value chain mapping, through desk research and analysis.
- Develop recommendations on areas that the country and priority sectors may address to improve competitiveness, development impact, and effectiveness.
- Contribute to the preparation of presentations and related materials for consultations and events in the country.
- Assist in the organization of the Iraq National Trade Forum 2026.
Based in Brussels, Belgium, under the overall direction of the Regional Representative, the intern reports to the Regional Representative or the respective Human Rights Officer in the assigned work unit.
Daily responsibilities of the Information and Evidence Management intern will depend on the individual's background and duties may include but are not limited to assisting with coordination activities related to digital data/evidence collection, processing, analysis, review, preservation and open source investigation support for the human rights investigations and/activities within the assigned area, and in particular, the intern may:
Help conduct substantive research and analysis of technology trends and applications relating to digital data handing, archiving and open source investigation. - Assist development of online training materials and production of training modules. - Assist senior staffs in provision of expert support to commissions of inquiry, fact-finding missions and field presences particularly relating to customized solution development. - Facilitate implementation and deployment of modern investigative technical tools and infrastructure. - Help ensure that digital forensic principles are properly applied to the digital data and evidence handling. - Perform other related duties requested by the supervisor, as appropriate.
- Work with datasets, including macroeconomic data and granular firm-, bank- and household-level data;
- work with macroeconomic models, including developing and solving New-Keynesian models, HANK models and models with financial frictions;
- work with macro-econometric models, including developing and estimating structural vector autoregression models and non-linear time-series models;
- work closely with the Division’s economists and research analysts, supporting the team in daily tasks and analytical projects;
- contribute to the Division’s research-based policy advice by using data analysis and econometric and macroeconomic modelling tools to help with empirical and quantitative assessments.
The UPU is seeking an intern, under the supervision of the Director of the Legal Affairs Department (DAJ), to:
- Carry out research and analysis and prepare draft documents on a number of legal issues related to the structure, functions and activities of the UPU, particularly in the areas of public international law and administrative law (with particular reference to the United Nations common system);
- Assist in the preliminary analysis of legal instruments such as treaties, agreements, regulations, resolutions and other legal documents relevant to the work of the UPU;
- To assist the Director and other members of the DAJ in the provision of services within the competence of the UPU, including preparation of background papers, reports and other documents; synthesis of views and practices on particular legal issues; and preparation of draft legal instruments such as treaties, agreements, contracts, internal rules and regulations or other legislative texts relating to the UPU.
