Under the supervision of the Field Coordinator, the candidate would assist the VPRS with the following tasks:

  • Carry out research and assist in the drafting of mapping reports; this entails the analysis of the relevant local context of a given ICC Situation, and identification of groups of potential victims entitled to participate in proceedings and/or request reparations;
  • Assist in the mapping and identification of: (i) individuals and organisations that may be intermediaries of victims (including non-governmental organisations, community or religious organisations, local authorities, etc.); and (ii) international agencies with a field presence which may cooperate with the Registry in relation to victim participation and reparations;
  • Assist in the identification of needs of intermediaries in terms of support and training, and help prepare training and related activities to respond to these needs;
  • Prepare summaries of relevant reports and documents;
  • Attend meetings, lectures etc when requested and prepare minutes;
  • Conduct other tasks as needed, including occasional assignments for one of the other units of the Section as appropriate.

 

The Intern shall be engaged as follows:

a. Exposed to the regular core functions of the Department and as such shall have the opportunity to observe the day-to-day operations and engage in on-the-job training in specific actions delegated by the Supervisor.

b. Engaged in a specific self-contained assignment described below:

  • Support to Financial Services (COR/FIN), which enables the Organization to achieve its business and strategic goals through the provision of financial services, including financial control functions at UNIDO Headquarters and in the Field. The services provided budgeting, financial control, financial planning management of both budgetary and extra-budgetary financial resources; cash management and treasury operations; determination, management and reporting of assessed contributions; receipts and disbursements of funds, including payroll operation for Headquarters and Field staff; financial management of technical cooperation services; and accounting and reporting for both budgetary and extra-budgetary activities of the Organization. 

This will require the following:

  • Process invoices and payments for vendors, travelers, and staff
  • Maintain information in the grants management module of the ERP system (SAP)
  • Participate in follow-up of budget revisions and the closure of grants
  • Study, review and update financial information and structure on intranet and Open Text

c. Prepare an end-of-internship report; to be submitted to and cleared by UNIDO Internship Coordination.

d. Other Special emerging Projects that may enhance the learning experience of the Intern.

  • Assisting in conducting legal research on issues related to international law, including issues of international civil service law, privileges and immunities, law of international organizations or contract law, and other areas of specialization. The studies undertaken generally relate to complex and/or sensitive areas.
  • Assisting in the preparation of legal advice on both institutional matters and issues that may arise before or during the execution of the Organization’s program, for example relating to the conclusion or amendments of contracts, difficulties encountered in ensuring their satisfactory execution, possible remedies to be envisaged etc.
  • Assisting in the preparation of meetings of the governing bodies of the Organization, or of the statutory organs of conventions adopted under the auspices of UNESCO.
  • Assisting LA in providing legal advice to its clients on administrative law matters, including policies, agreements, issues related to the Medical Benefits Fund, UNESCO Staff Savings & Loan Services, etc.; Review appeals against administrative decisions and assist in drafting the Organization’s submissions before the Appeals Board and the Administrative Tribunal of the International Labour Organization;
  • Attending various conferences and meetings.

 

The Division for Communications and Public Engagement reports directly to the Office of the Director-General. The team oversees the implementation of the Organization’s communication strategy and ensures the coordination and delivery of communications (external and internal) to meet the sectors’ and Field Office’s needs. This includes the drafting and editing of content for the Organization’s website, press relations and press review, social media channels, communications campaigns, public events, media partnerships and publications.

Interns will have the opportunity to assist in the various projects of the Division and help assure visibility is given to all the Organization’s activities across multiple platforms, digital and traditional.

 

 

The ESO Supernova is an education facility, which attracts approximately 60000 visitors per year. Housed within the facility is a 14-metre-diameter planetarium and a 2200-square-metre interactive exhibition. The facility is open 5 days per week, from Wednesday to Sunday, with occasional special events happening outside of these core hours.

In the ESO Supernova you will work with a team of professional science communicators and educators, to support the exciting programme of public-facing activities designed to inspire our visitors, including presenting planetarium shows, leading guided tours and delivering hands-on activities.

  •  Liaise and build networks with officials in national administrations, researchers, other international organisations and member country Delegations.

  • Provide administrative and logistical support in the planning and organization of meetings, events, workshops, and conferences in coordination with other staff.

Assist the Advisor in preparing notes and opinions on administrative, political and communications issues related to the activities and fields of competency of UNESCO.

In addition, interns in the Speechwriting Pool (Pôle Langage) will help prepare elements for various interventions by the Director-General (in French and in English). They will help write speeches, talking points, messages, editorials, articles and forewords. They will also carry out documentary research with a view to preparing speeches or official visits by the Director-General. Under the supervision of the Head of the Pôle Langage, they will also revise correspondence to be signed by the Director-General.

In this framework, we are looking for candidates to join the Culture Sector as interns to work under the overall authority of the Assistant Director-General for Culture (ADG/CLT), and the general supervision of the Director/Chief of Entity, and the direct supervision of the Head of Unit/Programme Specialist to contribute to the work of the Unit/Entity, in particular to:

  • Assist in the implementation and monitoring of Culture programmes and activities.
  • Contribute to the preparation of documents, reports, work plans and communication content including briefings, talking points, speeches and online content for the Sector.
  • Assist in conducting research, compiling data and carrying out analysis, drafting and preparing materials pertaining to the implementation of the UNESCO Culture Conventions.
  • Participate and assist with upcoming meetings, training workshops, events, webinars and conferences organized by the Sector, taking notes and preparing minutes.
  • Assist in building and maintaining working relationships with other Sectors/Entities, donors/partners, relevant national and international organizations, etc.

Under the overall authority of the Director of the Division for Gender Equality, under the supervision of the Chief, Policies and Strategies for Gender Equality and within the general assignment of support of the work of the Division, the intern will undertake the following duties:

  • Assist in follow-up, monitoring and reporting of activities pertaining to global priority gender equality to realize the fours Strategic Objectives of UNESCO in accordance with the 41 C/4 and 41 C/5;
  • Analyze documents and projects related to the promotion of gender equality and women’s empowerment in all UNESCO domains and draft related reports, briefings and notes;
  • Assist in developing effective communication materials for the Division including its social media outlet, drafting content (e.g. documents, news, webstories, photo galleries and other dynamic content) for the Division’s website;
  • Assist in the organization of the Priority Gender Equality related conferences, events and outreach initiatives;
