Daily responsibilities of UPR interns will depend on the individual's background and duties may include but are not limited to supporting the UPR Branch in the accomplishment of its projects and/or activities. In particular, the intern may: • Conduct data research into specific areas of the UPR's work. • Provide support in the preparation of statistics. • Help with the indexing of the UPR recommendations. • Assist in the preparation of electronic material (infographics, presentations, and video snapshots). • Participate in information management discussions and in the design of visualization solutions, including templates and icons. • Assist in the design and development of digital services, platforms and tools, including the collaborative development of mock-ups and prototypes, using a variety of digital tools with the aim to improve their accessibility, user-friendliness, and aesthetics. • Support the team by developing tutorials and supporting materials on digital services, tools and platforms. • Perform other tasks as requested, as appropriate.
Requisiti principali
- To qualify for the United Nations Secretariat internship program applicants must, at the time of the application, be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first-level university degree program (i.e. minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent degree); or be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher -i.e. Master's degree), preferably in the area of data science studies or related experience, with a university degree as defined above.
- Relevant academic and/or experience in the following would be highly regarded:
- Proficiency in standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS Power Point, MS Excel, MS Teams, Power BI, Python, Co-pilot, SQL…
- Good knowledge or user experience in databases and applications and in data research, data analysis and statistics.
- Good knowledge or user experience in web design, digital service design, graphic design, and video production and editing (Adobe Suite, Canva, WordPress, etc).
- Ability to design surveys and polls is desirable.
- Knowledge of Political, Social Sciences or International Relations would be an asset.
- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship fluency in English is required, knowledge of French is an asset. Knowledge of another official United Nations official language would be an advantage (i.e. Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Spanish).
