The department of Stem Cell Biology is placed in Måløv and is part of the newly established Stem Cell R&D unit at Novo Nordisk. We are experts in stem cell differentiation and characterization with various technologies, including histology, FACS and scRNAseq. In particular, the scRNAseq/bioinformatics team assists the various stem cell projects with characterising and evaluating the stem cell differentiations via single cell-based technologies.
During your internship, you will work closely with bioinformaticians from the Stem cell Biology and Bioinformatics departments and assist with identifying and collecting data from high quality public single cell studies and annotate and prepare these datasets appropriately to create a large internal catalogue of human cell types. Furthermore, you will support the bioinformatics/scRNAseq team with ad-hoc bioinformatics and data management tasks.
We are looking for an intern who is passionate about bioinformatics and single cell transcriptomics. You are an excellent student and are currently enrolled in your master’s degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, biostatics or similar field of studies. You have a good understanding of bioinformatics and NGS technologies and you have hands-on experience with analysis of NGS data, including scRNAseq. Proficiency in the R statistical programming language is a must, while other programming skills are also an advantage.
We expect you to have a sound personal judgement to take decisions during your daily work and to have a well-structured and diligent approach at work, thrive in an innovative environment and bring a can-do attitude. As a person, you are an outgoing team player with a strong personal drive and dedication. Finally, you must have a strong work ethic and be willing to take responsibility for your own tasks and progress.
