  • Work with other (Marine) engineers and meet with multi-disciplinary operational engineers to understand the challenge.

The internship is located in the Joint Inspection Unit (JIU) at the United Nations Office in Geneva (UNOG). The JIU is the only independent external oversight body of the United Nations system, mandated to conduct system-side evaluations, inspections and investigations. Its role is to enhance management and administrative efficiency and promote greater coordination among UN agencies, as well as with other internal and external oversight bodies. In its reviews, the Unit identifies best practices, proposes benchmarks, and facilitates information-sharing across its participating organizations that have adopted its Statute, which are currently 28 organizations of the UN System. Review teams are composed by Inspector(s), Evaluation and Inspection Officer(s), and a Research Assistant.

The purpose of the interns at the JIU is to assist the review teams and fulfill ad hoc demands of the Unit. The internship provides an opportunity for interns to gain hands-on experience in the field of oversight and evaluation at the UN. Outputs and specific work assignments will be discussed and agreed with every candidate during the interview.

As a trainee in media monitoring you will:

  • continuously monitor and analyse economic and other news from various media sources across Europe and share key items with ECB management and staff;
  • regularly prepare and present ECB-related and economic news in the daily meetings of the Directorate General;
  • analyse media coverage of the ECB’s media activities and write media coverage reports for the ECB’s management.

You will also take part in other tasks of the Internal Communications team, depending on the team’s current needs and your particular skill set. For example, you might:

The Finance Unit’s mandate is to mobilize and accelerate investments to increase the ambition for climate mitigation action and climate resilient development through a just energy transition, thereby supporting countries’ shift to a low-carbon development pathway.  Under the direct supervision of the Head of Finance Unit, the intern will be responsible for the following tasks:  

  • Support the implementation of the various on­going Unit programmes, including the Mediterranean Investment Sustainable Energy Facility (MISEF), Seed Capital Assistance Facility (SCAF) and EmPower II (see www.unep.org/climatechange/finance).
  • Support the development of presentations for meetings with prospective partners and development of project proposals for various activities undertaken by the Finance Unit. The Intern will also support the development of analysis, briefings, minutes, and presentations for global, regional, and national workshops and seminars.
  • Research and analysis in preparation for publications with project partners (governments, academic institutions, and environmental organizations) to develop best practices and policy recommendations.
  • Support development of communication outreach material, including both print and online media.

The Implementation Support Team

The intern will assist in project management for ongoing PRB implementation-related projects and working groups, the development of thematic guidance through working groups and collective engagement formats and research on sustainable banking topics relevant to ongoing projects. This would involve supporting various topics such as Nature & Biodiversity, Climate & Net-Zero transition, Climate Adaptation, and Financial Inclusion. 

Governance and Membership Team

The intern will support the organization and preparation of support activities both logistically and in terms of content, support with communication and engagement with our banking members as well as various external stakeholders. 

The Review Team

The intern will support the individual review processes and data management projects. 

 

Depending on skills, background and preferences, cross-cutting missions can include:

Body Engineering 2 is a major division responsible for Planning & Design of Body parts for European Vehicles from concept phase to serial production. Exterior lighting development group is responsible for complete development of front lamps and rear lamps. 

  

Your project

 

To develop a tool and a methodology which can predict condensation in automotive lamps.

  • Identify which are the main factors causing condensation
  • Identify how to simulate these factors the best way
  • Prepare numerical CFD model (using Star CCM+). If needed, modify the code
  • Coordinate with supplier to run experiments with actual prototypes and proceed with correlation of the model
  • Apply the findings on projects which are in development.
  • Support promising access & equity acceleration projects in businesses, especially within global health and social business topics.
  • Maintain complex Excel spreadsheets and data to support performance analysis and reporting.
  • Analyze datasets to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies, providing insights that inform performance management.
